Session 2: Two Weeks Remain

Waking on the Moon

  • Ameer awoke on the dusty surface of the moon, rather than in the field he fell asleep in. His father wasn’t there.
  • Ameer heard voices nearby, and pulled himself towards them.
  • Ameer hid behind a rock as he approached.
  • Ameer saw a woman talking with another figure, who was shrouded in purple smoke, and was kneeling before her. A moment later, the figure vanished.
  • The woman spoke, “Ameer, I’ve been expecting you.”
  • She introduced herself as Uschas, Aspect of Night. She explained that she was the one who brought Ameer here.
  • Uschas explained The Struggle of the Aspects and told Ameer that he had been chosen as her Champion. He was also told that the game would begin in 14 days.
  • To help him overcome the other Champions, Uschas granted Ameer the Dream Leap ability and a small pouch full of white sand, which could be used to return to the moon when he slept.
  • Uschas sent Ameer back to his world.

The River’s Edge — 14 Days Remain

  • Ameer woke up in the field he fell asleep in.
  • Ameer found his father, Raj, by the edge of a nearby river dressing a wound on his right hand.
  • Raj told Ameer that he wanted to return to the place he grew up, The Old Country.
  • Ameer agreed, and the two decided to return to Junbar one last time to gather supplies.
  • Before leaving, Raj wanted some time to gather his thoughts, so walked off to be alone for a bit.
  • Ameer saw something flashing in the river, and pulled out a sword!
  • After showing his father this find, the two of them set off for Junbar.

  • Raj set to work gathering what he could from the remains of their home.
  • Ameer searched nearby houses for supplies.
  • While searching, Ameer heard crying coming from the town doctor’s house.
  • Inside, Ameer found a girl he knew from town, Shereem.
  • Ameer invited her to join him and his father on their trip to The Old Country. Shereem agreed to join them.
  • The three of them continued gathering supplies until sundown.
  • They decided to stay in Ameer’s ruined house for the night.
  • Shereem slept in Ameer’s bed. Ameer slept on the floor, slipping the pouch from Uschas under his head.
  • Ameer was glad to see the pouch work as described, and after a short time returned to his world.

Leaving for Riyadh13 Days Remain

  • Ameer woke up back on the floor in his house. Shereem was missing from her bed.
  • Ameer accidentally walked in on Shereem changing in the front room.
  • Ameer tried to sneak out of the situation unnoticed, but was unsuccessful. Shereem wasn’t very upset.
  • Once everyone was prepared, the group set off down the road to the north for Riyadh. Raj hoped to join up with a caravan there.
  • After a while of walking in the heat, it became apparent that water would be a problem.
  • Ameer searched off the path for a stream to fill their canteen, but didn’t have any luck.
  • After walking all day, Raj suggested they stop and camp for the night.
  • Raj fell asleep quickly, but Ameer could tell Shereem was troubled. “Your father… Is he a good man?” She asked.
  • Ameer comforted her, ensuring her that he was.
  • Ameer decided to forgo the pouch of sand this night. He wanted a chance to do things over.

Leaving for Riyadh (2) — 13 Days Remain

  • Ameer woke up back on the floor in his house. Shereem was missing from her bed.
  • Ameer was careful not to disturb Shereem as she changed.
  • Ameer remembered the trouble they had with water and made sure to bring extra canteens to fill.
  • While filling the canteens, Shereem asked Ameer about his father again.
  • Ameer pressed her on the topic, but Shereem wouldn’t discuss it further, promising to explain later.
  • Once everyone was prepared, the group set off down the road to the north for Riyadh. Raj hoped to join up with a caravan there.
  • After a while of walking in the heat, the canteens needed filled again.
  • Ameer searched off the path for a stream to fill their canteens.
  • While walking through some brush, Ameer heard a roar. He cautiously pressed on.
  • Soon he came to a small stream, and was able to fill the canteens.
  • As he stood to leave, Ameer came face to face with a large black panther standing on the other side of the stream.
  • After walking all day, Raj suggested they stop and camp for the night.
  • Raj fell asleep quickly, but Ameer could tell Shereem was troubled.
  • Ameer asked Shereem about her question regarding his father, but she insisted the time wasn’t right.
  • Ameer did use the pouch this time.
  • He woke once more in the presence of Uschas, before once again returning to this world.

The Trading Capital — 12 Days Remain

  • Ameer was the first to wake. He slipped the pouch of sand back into his pocket before waking the others.
  • After a little preparation, they set off for Riyadh.
  • After around six hours of walking, they arrived at the colossal city of Riyadh.
  • Ameer and Shereem followed Raj through the busy streets to a rough looking house in a poor side of town.
  • Raj knocked on the door. A moment later, a large, bearded man came out.
  • Raj shared a hug with him before introducing him as an old friend, Shigardo.
  • Shigardo invited them in, and Raj told Shigardo of their troubles. Shigardo suggested that they hammer out the details privately, so Ameer and Shereem went back outside to wait.
  • Outside, Shereem asked Ameer why he wished to go to The Old Country, and asked if he would consider staying here instead. She said she could stay too, and blushed softly.
  • Misreading the mood, Ameer leaned in for a kiss, but Shereem turned away.
  • A moment later, Raj emerged from Shigardo’s place with a smile on his face.
  • Raj invited Ameer to walk with him, so that they might discuss the terms of his arrangement with Shigardo.
  • Raj told Ameer that Shigardo had agreed to take them to The Old Country in his wagon, by way of caravan.
  • Ameer could tell that Raj was leaving something out, so he pressed further.
  • Raj hesitantly continued. Shereem would have to be turned over to Shigardo as payment.
  • Ameer immediately refused, but after talking it over further, eventually agreed, with one condition. The condition being that Ameer would be able to do any one thing of his choice without any questions from his father.
  • Raj agreed, and the two made their way back to Shigardo’s
  • Upon returning, Ameer requested a few coins from his father.
  • Raj agreed, hoping Shigardo wouldn’t notice a few missing coins and hoping to regain Ameer’s favor.
  • Ameer then decide to take a walk, alone.

The Phantom’s Tower

  • While walking, Ameer came across a large tower in the middle of the district.
  • Ameer investigated further, finding that the tower had no doorway.
  • Ameer asked a group of nearby children about the tower, and they told him it was inhabited by the Phantom.
  • Fascinated by such a mystery, Ameer decided he wanted to get to the bottom of things.
  • Ameer sent several children out to gather supplies for him, promising to pay them when they returned.
  • Suddenly, one of the children rushed him, snatching the pouch of sand right from his pocket.
  • Ameer chased the boy down, and proceeded to beat his ass.
  • Ameer returned to the tower to find all of his supplies missing, along with many of the children.
  • Ameer decided to search the marketplace for tools, and found what he was looking for at Chazarr’s Bazaar.
  • The owner of the stand, Chazarr, was willing to help, insisting he knew of Ameer’s plans.
  • Chazarr let Ameer borrow a pair of climbing picks in exchange for Ameer’s sword. If Ameer couldn’t return within one week, Chazarr would keep the sword.
  • Ameer returned to Shigardo’s.
  • He told his father of his plan to enter the tower that night.
  • Raj was firmly against it, but as per the condition of their earlier deal, agreed to let Ameer do as he pleased.
  • Ameer invited Shereem to join him, and after some deliberation, she agreed.
  • While walking to the tower, Ameer pressed Shereem about her question once more.
  • Shereem paused, and then said, “It’s about your mom.”
